Good designers redesign, great designers realign

When a new A List Apart article shows up I always know I'm in for a treat. In this latest article, the author writes: "Like a kid in a candy store, we creatives redesign like it’s the new black. Why do we possess such an insatiable desire to refresh and remake? Why do we thrive on renewal? What tempts us to be seduced by the sway of renaissance?"

The author offers his view on the re-design process websites tend to make on a yearly basis. The fact of the matter is, I like his view on the subject and I completely agree that a re-design only because "the current look in one year old" is not needed and can be confusing for the visitors.

On the other hand, as the web progresses and surfers tend to adopt new trends they start expecting new stuff from their favorite websites and this is where realigning comes in. A very good read combined with solid examples.
