Microsoft Sparkle - Flash killer?

At the Professional Developers Conference Microsoft unveiled more details of a new tool set for graphics and animation - Microsoft Expression. One of the titles in the package is boringly code-named Sparkle and is the topic of this rant. Some are already calling it the "Flash killer" which is quite ridiculous if you ask me. How can an application that hasn't even been released yet be compared to a well known multimedia standard? With the recent Adobe acquisition of Macromedia, things will get even more tough for Microsoft as new tools are developed and tighter integration across the product line emerges in the next 12 months.

It seems that Microsoft is trying to get into every market, but does it excel? Nope. Does the extreme amount of cash help with the fact that they are hopelessly unable to innovate? Not yet. Will things probably change in the future? I doubt it. They should invest their time and money in developing Windows and try to make that unstable and insecure Behemoth something that actually works as they advertise it. Microsoft is _______! Fill in the blank with what you think is appropriate.
